NVQ Level 2 in Nail Services
National Vocational Qualification - VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust).
This is the qualification that the Government and Local Authorities want everyone working in the nail industry to achieve. It shows employers and customers that you are of a professional standard and is equivalent to 4 to 5 GCSE s at A-C level. To attain this qualification you must be competent in Manicure, Pedicure, Acrylic or Gel Nails and Nail Art and have a good command of English.
If you have not studied nail services all the courses can be taken with NailTrainingLondon
Should you be approached by your local Trading Standards Department or Licensing Department to check your qualifications, you can refer them to NailTrainingLondon and we will confirm you are attending this course once you have registered.
STEPS TO GET QUALIFIED
- Attend the training centre to be assessed in your Manicure, Pedicure, Nail Art, Extensions (Acrylic or Gel) and English skills. Please bring a model.
Cost: £185 (1 day) - If you are competent progress to step 3 or you may need to carry out further training. We charge £185 per day for our courses or refer you to improve your English.
- Register with VTCT and be issued with your Training Manual, Portfolio,Treatment Plans and
Assignments. Cost:£95 - Home Study: Complete your Assignments and return them, revise for your exams and practice
your skills. All the information needed is within the training manual provided or can be found in
text books or the internet. We are always here to answer questions. - Attend the training centre for Tests, Practical Assessments and Portfolio building.
Cost: £555 (3 days)

In all you will be required to attend the training centre for a minimum of 4 days at a cost of £835
per student over a period of 3 to 4 months. If further support is needed this is charged at £185 per
day per student. Final Assessment Tests must be done at the training centre. However other training
can be done at your premises at a cost of £250 plus £75 per student per day.
At the training centre we provide Professional NSI and SpaRitual products for your use. We do ask
that you bring your own Acrylic or Gel brush and Uniform. Any extra equipment can be purchased
at a 20% discount from the centre.
The experienced, well qualified and friendly tutors will support you through this course.
To Complete the NVQ 2 you will need to do the following
Complete a Portfolio containing:
TREATMENT PLANS ( These are sheets of paper with the details of your service recorded and
signed by you and your client). These can be done at your home or work or at the centre.
- 2 x Manicure
- 2 x Pedicure
- 1 x Nail Art Hands
- 1 x Nail Art Feet
The above 6 treatment plans must cover Paraffin Wax Hands, Paraffin Wax Feet, Masque Warm
Mitts, Masque Warm Booties, Warm Oil Hands
- 3 x Tips and Overlay one colour ( Acrylic or Gel )
- 3 x Maintenance
- 1 x Natural Nail Overlay( Acrylic or Gel )
- 1 x Removal
TEST PAPERS (You have 3 attempts to attain 70% - revise the Manual Issued) 4 x Multiple Choice Papers covering Health and Safety, Manicure, Pedicure, Nail Extensions and
Nail Art.
ASSIGNMENTS ( These are homework which you must eventually attain 100% - correct answers
can be learned from the Manual Issued) 4 x Written Assignments covering Health and Safety, Manicure, Pedicure, Nail Extensions and Nail Art.
SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENTS ( Treatments Performed in front of the Assessor and an Examiner)
- 1 x Manicure including Nail Art, Paraffin Wax and Warm Oil
- 1 x Pedicure including Nail Art, Masque and Booties
- 1 x Tips and Overlay one colour
- 1 x Natural nail Overlay
- 1 x Removal
STARTING FROM SCRATCH
Students who wish to complete an NVQ2 but have had no experience will need to complete the
following NSI courses that will bring them up to standard with some home practice. NSI certificates
will enable you to gain insurance and a good working knowledge preparing you for the world of
work.

Numerous other courses are available, but these are not necessary for the NVQ2. These include

Massage, Fiberglass.
